WAYSTREAM ACCESS SWITCH
MS8000
Overview
The MS8000 includes 28 and 52-port 1/2.5/10 Gbit/s Ethernet ports designed for fiber broadband networks to deliver data, voice and video services. The models also have 4 uplinks that support either 10Gbit/s or 25Gbit/s (MS8600 series).
The MS8000 is a hybrid architecture, including both a switch ASIC for up to wire-speed performance and a network processor (NPU) for advanced service features and unique troubleshooting tools.
Built in a small form factor with unique front-to-side airflow, the MS8000 is a reliable platform for service delivery over many years. All connectors in the front provides easy access. With up to 52 ports the MS8000 enables high density fiber to the home/business installations.
The MS8000 runs Waystream iBOS operating system, a feature rich and reliable software that provide advanced service features such as ingress/egress shaping with Weighted Fair Queuing and quality measurement and service assurance analysis of multicast TV. The switch also provides streaming telemetry with direct integration to popular Influx time series database. Various layer 2 features support public and private networks, wholesale and redundant networking for building highly available FTTx networks for business and residential users. As of iBOS 7.7.5 the platform also supports stacking for network management. The stacking feature in iBOS allows up to eight switches to be grouped together into a switch-complex that is managed by a single headnode. This creates a single logical switch from a network management point of view. The participating switches need to be connected to each other, but are not required to be in the same physical location.
The 2.5Gbit/s link-speed is standardized by IEEE for use with Category 5e or better cabling. A copper-SFP is required.
10Gbit/s Broadband
Waystream access switches are designed for fiber-to-the-home networks. A small form-factor, front-to-side airflow and a unique network processor/ASIC architecture provides a blend of features to make FTTH networks reliable and easy to operate.

Extended Temperature Range SwitchesSFPs for optimal performance
Waystream recommends using Waystream SFP:s for optimal performance and system availability, ensuring the best compatibility with our switches. For those aiming to reduce their environmental impact, we also offer ultra-low power SFP:s designed to minimize the carbon dioxide equivalent footprint. While Waystream
switches are open to the use of third-party SFP:s, the quality of these SFP:s can vary significantly, and as such, we cannot guarantee their compatibility or performance with our equipment. To help evaluate compatibility, Waystream offers a “3rd Party SFP Interop Evaluation Service,” where we can test the interoperability of a preferred third-party SFP with our switches. If this service is not used, we cannot guarantee the functionality of the third-party SFPs with our equipment, and they will remain unsupported.
