SUSTAINABILITY

Waystream and sustainability

Sustainability is an important part of how we develop our products and operate our business. As a supplier of network infrastructure, we have a responsibility to continuously reduce our environmental impact while helping customers build efficient and long-lasting broadband networks.

Waystream acknowledges the importance of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a common global ambition to protect our planet and create prosperity for all. We have integrated the goals that are most relevant to our business into our sustainability agenda and long-term strategy.

Our ambition is to reduce emissions throughout our value chain, improve resource efficiency and contribute to a more sustainable digital infrastructure.

Reducing our environmental impact

We continuously work to reduce the climate impact of both our products and operations.

Our efforts include:

  • Designing energy-efficient products with low power consumption
  • Reducing packaging materials and increasing the use of recycled content
  • Manufacturing in Sweden, reducing transportation distances and associated emissions
  • Extending product lifetime through software upgrades and long-term usability
  • Supporting responsible recycling through compliance with the EU WEEE directive
  • Contributing financially to climate initiatives that support emissions reductions and sustainable development
Waystream products are classified as electronics and are therefore included in the EU recycling system. This means the cost of recycling each product has already been financed when it leaves our warehouse.

Product Carbon Footprint

Understanding our environmental impact is an important step in reducing it.

Waystream has calculated the carbon footprint of its products together with ClimatePartner through Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) assessments. These calculations include emissions associated with raw materials, production, logistics, packaging and end-of-life handling.

The insights from these assessments help us identify areas where emissions can be reduced and support our long-term sustainability efforts.

Sustainable Packaging

We continuously improve our packaging to reduce environmental impact.

Our packaging strategy focuses on:

  • Reducing the use of plastic materials
  • Increasing the use of recycled and recyclable cardboard
  • Minimising unnecessary printing and colouring
  • Optimising package size to reduce transportation impact

These improvements help reduce waste and lower resource consumption while maintaining the protection and quality required during transport.

Science Based Target initiative (SBTi)

More information on SBTi and how you as a company can join:
Waystream joined the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) in 2025 with the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 42% by 2030 and achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.

SBTi helps companies align climate targets with the latest climate science and the objectives of the Paris Agreement.

Our commitment reflects our long-term ambition to systematically reduce emissions throughout our operations and value chain.

Climate Initiatives

As part of our sustainability commitment, Waystream provides financial support to climate initiatives that contribute to emissions reductions and support the transition to a lower-carbon society.

These initiatives complement our primary focus on reducing emissions through product development, operational improvements and supply chain optimisation.

Our Sustainability Plan

Our sustainability plan focuses on three key areas:

Climate and Environment

Reducing emissions, improving energy efficiency and minimizing environmental impact throughout the value chain.

Responsible Business

Ensuring compliance, transparency and responsible management of suppliers, materials and operations.

People and Diversity

Creating an inclusive workplace, improving diversity and promoting equal opportunities across the organization.
