About Waystream
Waystream operates in the telecommunications sector helping its customers to build next generation fibre networks. The head office is located in Kista, with staff in Sweden, Germany, China, and India and offices in Umeå, Hamburg and Shanghai. The product portfolio includes switches and routers adapted for the fibre market and associated peripherals, technical support, training, and consulting. Our customer base and target customers are city networks, operators, and real estate companies that own and operate their fibre networks in the Nordic region and Central Europe. Waystream is currently the Nordic market leader in its segment. Most of our production occurs in Sweden, and our switches are climate compensated and thus carbon-neutral. Products are considered to be carbon neutral when their greenhouse gas emissions are measured and compensated for by supporting internationally recognized carbon dioxide CO2 compensation projects. More information about our project can be found under our Sustainability section.
Since 2015, the company is listed on NASDAQ First North under the ticker WAYS.
Our Vision - Communication everywhere!
The world needs network that connect every home, every business and every human being. By communication we bring the world closer and enable progress that makes society better. The world needs communication everywhere. We will make this happen.
Our vision is a connected world where ideas and knowledge can cross borders and lead to new discoveries. Innovation that makes our lives better and improves the way we work and live.
Fibre networks and the unlimited communication they enable is the core infrastructure needed to realize our vision. Building this new infrastructure certainly have its challenges - it is a journey that will take many years to complete. Laying the fibre is just the beginning. The real journey starts as the network begin to fill up with services - the decades to come of operating a great network that meet user expectations to deliver what it promises.
That is why we see it as our mission to make that journey as effective as possible.
Waystream creates network products fit for FTTH that are reliable, easier to operate and delivers great services. This means that the network can be built faster with better return on investment, more satisfied end-users and a more robust solution.
When the network is easier to operate it saves money and time. When the network is reliable it can be trusted with demanding services allowing innovation to grow. When the network delivers great services it simply works to meet all user needs.
Fibre networks are not like every other network. That is why we build our products to specifically cater to the needs of FTTH.
We provide switches, routers and related accessories that lets business and residential services be delivered over fiber infrastructure.
If you are building a FTTH network, you need to talk to us. We can make your network better!
Why Waystream
Waystream is one of the Swedish city networks’ most trusted suppliers of active equipment for fibre optic networks.
Waystream is entirely focused on developing and delivering the most optimal network equipment to city networks and operators in Sweden and Central Europe. By investing in the development of new products and new generations of access switches, Waystream is enabling its customers to reduce operational costs, increase flexibility, and gain the ability to invest in climate compensated switches in the world of Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTx).
Adapted to FFTx. Functionality & Design. The functionality and design of our equipment is adapted to the specific requirements of fibre network installations for businesses and households. Our switches are designed to stand in a cellar or switching cabinet for years, fulfilling all the requirements for temperature resistance and robustness.
Reliability and resilient networks. Our products are proven in the field, and our solutions deliver quality, provide a high uptime, and are future-proofed for years to come.
User-friendliness. Time is money. Our customers get lower operating costs through reduced downtime, automation, and faster troubleshooting through detailed diagnostics and telemetry data.
Sustainability. A sustainable world. All of our access switches are climate compensated, and the majority are “Made in Sweden”. We are committed to gender equality and to meeting the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
The Origin of Waystream
In 2001, what later became Waystream was born. Since then, we have been developing and selling advanced digital infrastructures adapted for the FTTx market, such as switches and routers. Our products are used partly in connection with establishing new fibre networks and partly when existing networks are to be upgraded.
Today we are the Nordic market leader in our segment, and we have customers in many different countries. Our primary customer groups are city networks and communications operators.
On 12 November 2015, Waystream AB was listed. The share has since been listed on Nasdaq First North under the ticker WAYS.
Sustainability has always been important to us, and in 2018 Waystream became the first broadband network equipment provider to offer products that meet the law’s intent to reduce the presence of chemicals in electronics that are harmful to health.
In 2020, we started moving production home to Sweden, specifically Lund, where the contract manufacturer, NOTE AB, began manufacturing the access switches. By manufacturing in several locations, we become less vulnerable to disruptions in the logistics system. In addition, the environmental aspect is important as we get shorter transport routes to main markets.
During the same year, Waystream also initiated a research project. The project aimed to evaluate different methods of machine learning and artificial intelligence linked to the operation of fibre-based broadband networks, thereby improving availability and stability for users. Moreover, since 2021, we have been part of a larger pan-European research project in applied AI with a consortium of around 30 industrial companies, operators, research institutes, and universities. The main objective of the research project is to accelerate digitalisation in Europe by building intelligent automation of new and existing communication networks.
In 2021, we launched no less than four new product lines that were well received by the market.
Going into 2022, Waystream decided to step up its sustainability efforts, and we achieved our target of 100% climate compensated switches on 1 July of that year. Our long-term ambition is to reduce our environmental impact further and eventually achieve climate neutrality in all aspects of the company. In addition, we are constantly striving to improve the diversity among our staff and to reach the long-term objective of a 50/50 gender balance, not only in the management team but in our entire workplace in all countries. In 2022, we also intensified our expansion into the German market.
