Waystream expands and strengthens the team with an international sales manager and a marketing specialist

Waystream, who develops and sells access equipment for fiber-based broadband networks, continues to expand and has recruited two new employees. On 22 February, Peter Hagberg joins as a business developer and sales manager with responsibility for all markets outside the Nordic region, while Joana Castelar takes the position as marketing specialist as of today. Both will be members of the management team.

- We see a great potential in the international market as the fiber rollout will increase in the future and therefore we are very pleased to welcome Peter Hagberg and Joana Castelar at Waystream, says Johnny Hedlund, Waystream CEO.

Peter Hagberg has extensive experience in the IT industry and will be responsible for business development and all sales outside the Nordic region. Part of the assignment will include working with existing and developing new markets.  For example, the implementation of two test projects of Waystream's products in Russia and India. Previously, Peter worked at Xerox and Cisco, and has been sales manager for the business market in the Nordic region for Huawei. Most recently, however, he has been advisor and has supported various start-ups within sales related areas.

Joana Castelar gets the title Waystream marketing specialist, which means she will be responsible for corporate marketing and communications both in Sweden and internationally. Joana's work experience includes several positions in sales and marketing, and for companies such as Vestas and Akzo Nobel. For a few years, she has also worked as a consultant with a focus on market research and was guest lecturer at Barcelona University. Moreover, Joana has a solid international career with earlier employments in Portugal, Spain and Denmark.

- We are very pleased to have recruited Joana and Peter. Peter has vast experience in the industry and is a welcome addition now that we are investing extensively on our international sales and with Joana on the team, we have a dedicated person who can hone in our marketing activities so that we get the maximum return for the future, says Johnny Hedlund.

Demand for fast and stable Internet, where fiber is considered the best and most future-proof connectivity, is increasing sharply. In Europe, the market for fiber is expected to double in the next three years. Calculations show that the number of connections to fiber networks will amount to about 62 million, representing over 20% of European households, by year 2019.
